I am so excited to announce that part two of my book is now available on Amazon! The Grid: Lessons from the Men of Grindr has been a crazy journey for me. When I released part one a little over a year ago, I had absolutely no idea how it would be received. I spent a few years running my Instagram and blog, but was unsure if I was even capable of writing a book and whether or not people would enjoy it. Since the release of part one, it has been so gratifying to read all of your messages about how relatable the book was.
I knew I wasn’t alone in feeling like Grindr had completely screwed up the way I felt about myself and other gay men. I think the craziest part for me was seeing that people around the world were reading the book and relating to my exact experiences. The damaging effects of Grindr are clearly not an LA-based phenomenon, and despite all of us suffering through it, it’s nice to know we can laugh and reflect on these issues together. With the support and inspiration from your messages, I decided to take even more time with part two of the book. It is longer, more intimate, and takes a fresh look at many issues I didn’t have time to explore on the first round.
As with part one, this release of The Grid chronicles three of my relationships that involve Grindr (while connecting the dots on a cliffhanger from the earlier book). I have anonymized the personalities and fictionalized certain details to protect their privacy, however, the stories really happened. I hope that they are entertaining, informative, and real. I also hope that the lessons I explore from the relationships help or comfort many of you in your own journey with dating apps.
Whether or not I have more books or creative projects in my future, this has been an honor for me to write. It is so beautiful to have created a book from scratch that will now be out there forever – even beyond my own life (unless Amazon goes out of business). I wrote these from the perspective of creating a handbook that I wish I had when I was first introduced to Grindr. Perhaps my stories can save someone out there a little grief, or let them know they are not alone in dealing with the many residual effects of Grindr. Thank you for your patience and support as I brought this project to life. Without your encouragement, I truly would not have been able to get this done!
